Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Valo Bath

Valo bath - What does it mean?

The word valo origins from Finland and literally translated means: "light". When entering a Valo steam bath, it becomes clear why it is named like that: You'll find yourself underneath a starry sky. A valo bath is a kind of steam bath with coloured light , thus incoroporates components of a sauna.

Just like in a sauna, one sits/lays down on wooden banks and the room is equipped with wainscot walls. A valo steam bath has a rather mild temperature  with 60*C (140*F)  and the humidity is about 50%. Once you lay down, you enjoy the slowly changing colours of the starry night and feel how your mind moves along with them. Experience how red colour enhances your blood circulation and how yellow light calms you. Green light clears your airways and blue light helps you to improve your sleep. In the middle of the steam bath a granite ball is placed, which is constantly sprinkled with warm water and essential oils, which furthermore stimulate your senses.

A Valo Bath takes about 30 minutes.
