Africa in the Ammergau…
"The sheer joy of living" is what the Friedel family of the Parkhotel Bayersoien wants to inspire in their guests. The couple probably experienced this joy already in their youth, during their extensive travels across the African continent. Right on the spot, the doctor and beginning lawyer decided to open a spa hotel in their Bavarian home to bring this joy and passion to their guests. Among picturesque scenery, right at the shore of the Soier See lake and with a view of the Ammergau Alps, the Parkhotel Bayersoien offers everything needed for an enjoyable holiday – arts and cultural events, a variety of active sports, competent medical consultations, alpine wellness and of course lots of Africa in the Ammergau.
All five senses feel the Black Continent's presence in the house: From the sauna world "Amani Spa" with its typically African wellness treatments to the "African Lounge" with specialties from the cape including degustations of wine and concerts by African musicians. Bathing in the 10,000 year old mountain pine moor, relaxing in the separate spa area exclusively reserved for guests of F.-X.-Mayr, or consulting the medical wellness team of ten, the reasons why the Parkhotel Bayersoien is among the most popular hotels in Bavaria are obvious.

„Passionsspielle“ in Oberammergau, World Heritage Site „Wieskirche“ pilgrimage church, highest peak in Germany „Zugspitze“, royal palaces Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, many recommendable museums (e.g. Franz-Marc Museum, open-air museum Glentleiten), Bavaria’s vibrant capital Munich.
Golf enthusiasts are free to choose among seven golf courses in the region. The closest golf course is the Gstaig course in Lechbruck.
The Parkhotel Bayersoien emphasises light healthy food, based on health food products which are an ideal addition to guests' wellness programmes. Classic gourmet menus, and international and Bavarian specialties are also served. Experienced sommeliers advise on the choice of the right wine from the extensive cellar. And in good weather, the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the spectacular mountain range.
A small but highly recommended lounge in elegant colonial style with choice objects of African art. Boorish culture features heavily with dishes from the Cape of Good Hope, like the "Smoorvis", fried fish and rice with coconut and smoked trout. "Prun Potje" is a prune stew and "Raghan Josh" is lamb with vegetables, chilli peppers and flat wheat cakes. A selection of original Cape wines compliments the food. The wine is imported directly by the family of hotel owners, who feel a very close connection to the Cape of Good Hope, having spent so much time in the surrounding country.
Known far beyond the borders of the region, the well cared for wine cellar harbours mature wines from all over the world. Renowned vintages from world famous areas of cultivation share the constant temperature and humidity with prized châteaus and select wines from the New World.
The Parkhotel Bayersoien is situated in the Bavarian city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The quiet location next to the spa gardens provides a magnificent view over the adjacent Lake Soier See and the Ammergau Alps. In summertime, the lake offers all kinds of water sports activities. In winter, the frozen lake offers various ice skating tracks and the snow-covered mountains provide hundreds of ski tracks for each level.
