The Longing for the Essential
12 March 2009
Düsseldorf - During the financial crisis, the longing for the Essential is increasing more and more. This is proven by a survey among our clients and hotel partners. Together with Beauty24.de, Wellness Hotels & Resorts International (W-H-I) will present the survey’s results at a press conference at the ITB 2009. This will take place on Wednesday, March 11, in hall 16. Additional interests of today’s wellness-guests are the wish for hotels in their local area, a mixture of classic wellness-treatments, experiences in nature, and a high-quality vitality cuisine.
The focus is on an emotional experience, the invisible luxury: enjoyment, reducing stress, defining values and maintaining one’s health. It is no longer highly expensive shopping but the obvious balance of body, mind and soul that is assuming the role of today’s status symbol.
Moreover, the poll underlines that there is rising price awareness among German consumers: over 92 percent view price as an important criterion. Still, irrespective to the crisis, wellness-vacation is remaining attractive for most people. This is supported by our survey that indicates an expected booking increase of 51 percent in 2009.
Classic and defined wellness-concepts instead of exotic treatments, natural environment instead of downtown location and last minute offers: These are the main criteria customers take into account when booking their vacation in one of our Wellness Hotels & Resorts International (www.w-h-i.eu).
Wellness-Hotels-Deutschland (W-H-D) assembles the top-level wellness resorts of the German hotel business. It has been ten years now that the association occupies the leading position in Wellness. All members belong to the four-to-five-star range, are mostly family-run, and specialized early in wellness treatments, thus drawing from a rich experience.
By order of the Messe Berlin, W-H-I will present the “Fachforum Wellness” (an experts’ forum on Wellness) on Thursday, March 12. International spa- and trend experts will discuss the topic of “Is the wellness-industry standing at crossroads? Visions for the future.” Admission is free for ITB guests.
