Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Ismakogie

Ismakogie - movement theory for a healthy posture

Based on the natural vibration rhythm of humans, the Viennese beautician Prof. Anne Seidel (1900-1997) developed a movement theory for natural posture around 1940, which makes the harmonious muscular play again conscious and thus gives both health and good looks. Ismakogie belongs to the field of kinematics. It is understood to be a form of alternative medicine, as there is no scientific evidence proving its positive impact.

Ismakogie is not only an alternative method to deal with pain and movement limitations but also can serve as prophylaxis. Prof. Anne Seidel introduced a holistic exercise program covering head to toe, allowing people to stay fit regardless their age. Dr. med. Martha Podleschak (1924-2013) developed Ismakogie after the death of Prof. Anne Seidel further.

Ismakogie can be easily integrated in everyday life, as one does not need any special equipment or clothing to exercise. Ismacology can also help reduce pain, which is usually not directly associated with postural defects like for example headaches and toothache. Ismacology improves body awareness and body posture. Practicing on a regular basis improves the overall wellbeing and enhances mobility.

What does the term "ISMAKOGIE" stand for?

Ismakogie itself is a made-up word made up of the initial German letters of the terms that are important for this theory of movement: "Physiologically Ideal (Schwingungs-) oscillation-rhythm of the Muscles that can be influenced in (Alltag) everyday life according to recognisable (Körpereigenen) body's own laws of Order". The final syllable "GIE" was added for "doctrine of".
