Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Waxing  -  depilation with hot wax

Waxing is exactly like sugaring a form of epilation. Here, the hair is removed with help of hot-wax. Hot-wax are considered to be wax types, which are directly applied to the skin with a spatula and after cooling pulled off.

The removal of the wax takes place opposed to the growth of hair. For the epilation the hair should have a length between 4 and 5 millimetres. The hair shouldn't be shorter as it can't be removed properly and it also shouldn't be longer as this could be more painful.

24 hours before the epilation you should avoid sun bathing and also you should not apply cream to your skin. After the removal of hair you should avoid creams containing perfume or alcohol and the sun.

A special form of waxing is the Brazilian Waxing. This method entails the removal of hair from the private parts. The women applying this technique are called 'Depiladora'.
