Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Micro Needling

What is Micro Needling?

Micro Needling is a relatively new method of treating wrinkles, cellulite, stretch marks and stretch marks.

What happens during a Micro Needling treatment?

Micro Needling involves rolling a roller (derma roller) fitted with tiny needles over the skin according to a specific pattern. Before treatment with the derma roller, the skin is pre-treated with a special anaesthetic cream. Then an ointment with special active ingredients is applied, which is transported into deeper skin layers by the treatment with the Derma-Roller.

Since a certain amount of pressure is applied with the derma roller, microscopic injuries are created which initiate a wound healing process. In the course of this process, the blood circulation is stimulated and collagen is formed. This results in a tightening and firming of the skin. After the treatment, a special cream is applied to soothe the skin.

Are there any side effects with Micro Needling?

Each treatment takes about 30-45 minutes and should be repeated 3-5 times to achieve the best results. After the treatment the skin may be slightly reddened or swollen. Small bruises may also appear. These symptoms should disappear after 3-4 days.
