Piloxing: What is it?
Piloxing is a combination of boxing and Pilates with interludes of dance. Gloves containing granules weighing 300g are used to strengthen the arm muscles. Piloxing is often accompanied by loud music to motivate and increase endurance. Piloxing is a crossover sport for women and was developed in 2008/2009 by the Swede Viveca Jensen.
What is the aim of piloxing?
The aim of piloxing is to burn fat, build muscle tone and sculpt the body. By using exercise elements based on the agility of boxing, flexibility and endurance is improved. The Pilates element strengthens the deeper muscle groups and improves posture. The phases change and mix with dance, giving improved coordination.
In Viveca Jensen’s opinion, piloxing is not all about physical fitness; it also helps improve our self-confidence and body image.
