What is Aroha?
Aroha - A whole body training for body, mind and soul. Aroha combines the expressive movements of the war dance (Haka) of the Maori from New Zealand with components of Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Kicking and punching as well as the imitation of different animals in various attack and defense positions are characteristic for Kung Fu. The influence of Tai Chi makes the movements round and flowing. The aim of Aroha is to train and shape the body under the influence of various choreographies with musical accompaniment. But the focus is not only on the athletic effects, because Aroha also strengthens mental well-being, provides energy and reduces aggression, stress and tension.
Increase your fitness with Aroha
Aroha is suitable as training for all age groups and for every fitness level. The exercise units are performed at a moderate pace and to music in ¾ beat. Through repeated bending and stretching of the lower body, especially the gluteal and thigh muscles are trained. During the training, exercises such as squats with a high number of repetitions are therefore often performed. But also the shoulder, abdominal and upper arm muscles are formed by the alternating tensing and relaxing. Aroha also strengthens the cardiovascular system, because the dance workout is also a cardio training. Here endurance is trained at a medium pulse rate, which has the best effects on the cardiovascular system. The body is better supplied with blood and the oxygen supply increases. It also has a fat-reducing effect at the same time, approx. 800 calories should be burned in one hour. Since the frequency of the heartbeats determines the consumption of fat in the body, Aroha is particularly suitable for losing weight because of the average pulse rate during the exercises. All exercises are integrated into the dance and flow smoothly into each other. Body awareness, balance and coordination improve and tensions in the muscles can be released.
Who is Aroha suitable for?
Dancing Aroha is not difficult and therefore suitable for young and old. During the training the movements are performed at a moderate pace and flow smoothly into each other. Any previous knowledge of martial arts is also not necessary. The night dancing is easy even for beginners and therefore increases the desire and motivation from the beginning. The exercises are also easy on the joints, although intensive for the muscles.
