Wellness dictionary

Little ABC for your spa-break questions ...

In their treatment discriptions, wellness hotels often use technical terms, which are hard to understand for potential guests. We have therefore collected and defined the most relevant terms in our small wellness ABC. A tip: Our wellness dictionary also supports word requests. You don't need to know the exact wording.

Bodyforming, bodyshaping or bodystyling are workouts

which are particularly effective in improving the figure and targeting problematic areas. The aim of bodyforming is to reduce fat and build muscle. This results in a more toned body.

Activities include callanetics, swimming, walking, step aerobics or jogging. It is important to understand that muscle training does not reduce fat as much as high endurance workouts do. The longer the training, the more muscle groups involved, will lead to improved stamina. Gentle muscle training does not result in massive muscle build - up but strengthens the muscles by doing a lot of repetitions and low resistance training. For effective fat reduction the training pulse should not be too high. The most effective training is a combination of endurance workouts with gymnastic strengthening.

The low intensity of bodyforming

also makes it suitable for people suffering from cardiovascular diseases or obesity. However, it is recommended that low impact exercises like walking or swimming should be done to protect the joints. It is also advisable that anyone suffering from any health problem should be monitored by a professional adviser.
